Bio
For over 30 years, whether dealing with constructability issues on new projects or offering specialized designs for renovations, Jim Kirk has been consulted to identify simple solutions to problems that at first may appear to be complex. Large or small, Mr. Kirk maintains a hands-on approach with all his projects, while remaining committed to high-quality, cost effective design and construction administration services. Clients have come to expect this from Mr. Kirk, who routinely leads a project team that stresses dialogue with the other design professionals and those within the construction industry.
After a brief time with Skidmore, Owings and Merrill in Chicago, Mr. Kirk led several design and rehabilitation projects while with the structural engineering firm Tylk Gustafson and Associates (now TGRWA) in Chicago, IL., until eventually forming Enspect Engineering, Inc. Together with his two partners Robert Peceny and Michael Mohr, Mr. Kirk has continued work in many sectors of design including industrial, education, health care, commercial and preservation.
Thanks to Mr. Kirk’s leadership, several significant and challenging projects have been successfully completed at Enspect Engineering, Inc., including those that have necessitated the use of unique foundation and lateral-resisting systems, specialty component designs in a wide range of building materials, and most recently in the field of adaptability and sustainability.
